Empowering Advisors.

Protecting Our Future.
The Mid-Atlantic 4R Nutrient Stewardship Association is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the 4R Principles of nutrient management — the Right Source, at the Right Rate, at the Right Time, and in the Right Place.
Through collaboration, education, and real-world demonstration projects, we help farmers, trusted advisors, and the environmental community bring nutrient stewardship practices to life across the Mid-Atlantic.
Leading the Way in Nutrient Efficiency Across the Mid-Atlantic
Agriculture in our region faces complex challenges: balancing farm productivity with water quality, protecting soil health while staying profitable, and earning community trust. That’s where MA4R comes in.
Through our regional affiliates, we fulfill our mission to:
- Deliver real-world proof through demonstration projects.
- Provide resources and funding opportunities to encourage adoption.
- Collect and share data that shows how farmers benefit — and how the environment does too.
- Educate farmers on the economic and environmental benefits of 4R practices — accelerating progress toward clean water and habitat goals.
- Communicate to non-agricultural audiences by documenting on-farm successes and sharing outcomes that matter to communities across the Mid-Atlantic.
By connecting agriculture with the public, we strengthen trust, demonstrate accountability, and show how nutrient efficiency benefits everyone — from the farm gate to the Chesapeake Bay.
Our Work is Rooted In:
Approachability

Impact

Service

An Industry-Led Partnership Driving Regional Solutions
As an industry-led partnership for regional-scale program delivery, the Mid-Atlantic 4R Nutrient Stewardship Association serves as the umbrella organization for local 4R efforts in the Mid-Atlantic.
Each of our affiliates is working to promote practical, community-based solutions that:
- Support farmers with real-world strategies for nutrient efficiency.
- Empower trusted advisors to lead the adoption of 4R practices.
- Strengthen environmental outcomes for the Chesapeake Bay and beyond.
Together, these efforts add up to a stronger agricultural system built on progress, innovation, and shared responsibility across the region.
